As a Police officer, you will be required to do physical and mental tasks. Keeping yourself physically healthy is challenging, and the same is true with maintaining your mental state. As future police officers, this will be one issue we will face once deployed.

During my CAP, I initiated and facilitated a running activity with the trainees under the Field Training Program. We started the movement at 4:00 AM from Legazpi City Police Station (LCPS) to Poro Beac
h, a 10km stretch. The running activity allowed me to view the city’s background along with Mt. Mayon at daybreak. As a Bikolana, I am still fascinated by Mayon’s beauty.
I have always been a fan of running activities, even before I joined the Academy. A little trivia: Running and other exercises can improve physical well-being, but unconsciously, it also improves our mental health (1).
After our physical activity, I changed into General Office attire. At the office, I visited PLTCOL DENNIS B BALLA. During our conversation, I learned that there is an ongoing Enhanced Management Police Operation (E-MPO). Since we discussed this at our pre-CAP conference, which lasted for four (
4) days, I volunteered to join.
PCDT MELITON, PMAJ ROLLY L MARQUESES, Deputy Chief of Police under the supervision of PLTCOL DENNIS B BALLA, Chief of Police, Legazpi City Police Station and the trainees of Field Training Program ran along Legazpi City boulevard. Maintaining physical condition and increasing police visibility in the neighborhood are two successful outcomes of this activity.

I am privilege to attend an Enhanced Managing Police Operations (E-MPO) at Daraga Conference Hall, Daraga Albay. It was attended by high-ranking officials of the province together with PCPT HERMEL NAPILII JR, Head of Operations under the supervision of PLTCOL DENNIS B BALLA, Chief of Police, Legazpi City Police Station, PCOL FERNANDO L CUANAN, JR, Provincial Director, Albay PPO, Hon. CARLWYN G BALDO, Daraga Municipal Mayor, and the different Chief of Police of municipalities of Albay. The meeting served as Provincial Oversight Committee Meeting.
During the meeting, I learned that his (E-MPO) aims to assess operational campaigns on law enforcement and public safety, primarily on internal security operations. One of the main concerns during the E-MPO is the c
ases of theft and robbery in the province. I was a spectator in the sea of blue uniforms, and I saw how crucial and excruciating it is to handle these situations. It is heartening to know that the Academy has prepared me for this.
I am astonished by my seatmates at this conference. I can feel the pressure of being the lowest-ranking attendee today. However, attending this program is a rare opportunity, and I gained insights into law enforcement duties. Indeed, the duties and responsibilities of a Chief of Police are comprehensive. Supervision and control in your station require much dedication. As a third person at the event, I realized that being an Ate was a leadership advantage. As the breadwinner and primary support of my mother, I always look out for my younger siblings. Now that my graduation is fast approaching, I will finally have the chance to attend to my family and the whole community.
